A successful SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) startup is experiencing explosive growth and realized its leased server infrastructure was unable to reliably keep up with their growth. They looked into hiring a full IT department but in the current post recession expansion was unable to hire key staff including a CIO quickly enough to meet demand. They needed very high levels of reliability to support a 24x7 follow-the-sun clientele as well as the highest levels of security to meet financial certifications including PCI. While public cloud infrastructure would have been able to meet their needs very economically, the management team felt that the additional security and control of a private cloud would allow the to offer their clients maximum levels of confidence, while the outsourced IP and management of PrimaSys allowed them to quickly bring their private cloud up and avoid potential downtime.
A marketing training company offers seminars for more than 500 attendees in diverse locations around the globe. Attendees bring their laptops and create their own websites on a development system hosted in ENKI's PrimaCloud, and they go live immediately. The seminars had been offered in the U.S. only, and the company had encountered difficulties with their venues having adequate internet bandwidth to handle the sudden spikes in traffic when everyone in the class pressed "submit" at once. In addition, future seminars were planned for Singapore, London, Sydney and other remote locations where access to the cloud was not assured, latencies could be too high for interactive class work, and local cloud services might not be available. ENKI's solution was to build and operate a miniaturized half-rack version of PrimaCloud in a portable case.
